As the third generation and Grandson of Founder, Maurice Julian, I was raised in the shop. Helping my grandparents, Mary & Maurice, and later my parents, Michael & Missy operate the business. All through my life I have worked on and off in the store. From my first official title as 'Sweeper & Window Cleaner' at age 5 to 'Sales Associate & Assistant Buyer' by age 14, I gained an invaluable education of not only the way to conduct business, but most importantly, how to treat people. I returned to Julian's in 2010 to manage the menswear and run the custom clothing side of the business.
Chapel Hill born son of JULIAN’S founders Mary and Maruice. UNC class of ‘69, I was America’s 1st fashion designer to design his own fabrics as well as silhouettes. Internationally awarded over 30 times, then youngest inductee into the Fashion Hall of Fame. Voted 9 times to the International Best Dressed List. Won the Pinnacle Award for furniture design. Designed the original Charlotte Hornets jerseys, and the UNC Tar Heels jerseys, where I introduced the Argyle! Proud papa of 7 children and 4 grandchildren!
A fellow Chapel Hill native. After school, I spent a few years on the road, working up and down the east coast. Skilled in image making, designing, and the fine arts, I've worked as a creative for fashion brands, tech companies, entertainers, models/influencers, and more.
Having returned home to Chapel Hill, I now serve as a digital strategist and art director for Julian's and the Alexander Julian brand.
Born and bred in Sausalito in the San Francisco bay. Went to Tufts University then into Bloomindale’s buyer training program. Managed Manolo Blahnik’s first USA store. Then I became the women’s shoe buyer and designer for Wilkes Bashford where I was the first to bring Prada to USA. I deisgned and sold my own shoe collection to Bergdorf’s and Barneys before Alex and I moved to CT. From then, I co-designed our home and home product collections, raised 4 children. Gourmet cook. Curator and buyer of Julian’s Womenswear.
Grew up in CT, but been in NC now for a decade. Fell in love with our state and my wife at UNC. Durham-ite. Clothing designer and product enthusiast.
3rd generation of family leadership at Julian's. I grew up in the Alexander Julian design studio, where I was always encouraged to keep dreaming and was always told that boredom was not allowed. Owe everything I know about clothes, design and good living to my parents, Alex and Meagan.
Born and bred New Yorker and quintessential Puerto Rican. Love books, music, movies, good food, friends and family. Met Alex in the 70’s and started working with him in the 80’s. Moved to Chapel Hill in ‘95 - didn’t even know how to drive! Still hangin’ with Alex, big part of my life!
Mom taught me hard work and to treat all with dignity. Aunt Rose gave me curiosity, culture and an encyclopedia set at 10. Aunt Irma taught me that is better to have heart and personality than to be the prettiest girl in the room. Thank you, ladies!
